The Zendure A3 External Battery Charger Review

FTC disclaimer:  I received a complimentary Zendure A3 in order to faciliate a review.  All opinions are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

It was four years ago today that Hurricane Sandy hit my town.  The superstorm piled a massive amount of snow on my area.   If you think that would be bad enough we lost power.   Plus my mother was on dialysis.  And there was a utility line down in our driveway we needed to make sure it was not a live wire before we attempted to drive under it.

Needless to say we were in a matter of life and death.  If my mother couldn't get to dialysis, she would die.  The only communication we had out of the house was my cell phone.  But we had no power to charge it.  Suffice it to say, I was in an all out panic mode because I knew I had to figure out a solution before my battery died -- or my mother would too.  I was able to, but it was a lot of added stress to an already survival mode situation.

At that time, I didn't know external battery packs existed or I would have had one and kept it charged for emergencies.  When I received the Zendure A3 external battery, my first thought was how I wish I would have had this during Superstorm Sandy.  I view battery chargers as a survival item -- as well as helpful in everyday situations when you aren't at a place you can easily recharge your phone.  But at one point having to rely on my phone for rescue, I see battery chargers like insurance -- you hope you don't need it, but if you do you are happy you have it!

What makes the Zendure A3 different from other power banks?  Several things!   It has long term standby.  Which means I can charge it, and then leave it for a while with my winter survival gear and it will be ready when I need it.  It is durable!

I think one of my favorite features is it has dual USB output.  That means two people can charge their phones at once.  Of course, you can charge anything that uses a USB charge, but when I see an external battery, my mind automatically goes to prepping for winter storms!

Another great feature of this is it has "charge through" technology.  That means that you can charge up to two devices while it is plugged in -- meaning you can maximize limited USB ports for charging.

This power bank also has Zen+ Technology.  That means when you plug in a device to be charged, it will fine tune it for charging as quickly and efficiently as possible at maximum charging speed!

This only weighs under 8 ounces and has a 12 month warranty, and will last over 500 full discharge cycles.  This package includes the Zendure A3, a micro-USB cable, a cloth pouch, and documentation.

The only thing I didn't like about this product was the USB cord that goes into the device that loads the power to this unit.  It was a completely flat USB and I felt it wasn't as secure to stay in the wall charger or computer.  This was probably not true, and there is probably a reason for the unique shape but it was different and I'm a creature of habit.  Still, it was kind of cool.

I highly recommend this product to everyone.  It is unlikely you will ever be in a life and death situation while relying on your cell phone without a way to charge it, but don't take chances.  This is a fantastic product to keep on hand in your preps for natural disasters.   Or just to take on the road to keep the kids' iPads charged.

Whatever you use your external battery charger for, to me it's a survival tool, and something no home should be without.  I give this product five stars!
